Promoting education cooperation between Vietnam and Kingdom of Belgium

Prof, Dr. Phung Xuan Nha, Minister of Education and Training had a meeting with Mr. Paul Jansen – Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam about the cooperation in education field of two countries in the future on 13th December 2018 in Hanoi.

Minister Nha congratulated Mr. Paul Jansen on his new term in Vietnam and hoped that Vietnam – Kingdom of Belgium relations will continue to develop and especially in education field.

Over the past few years, two countries have had good relationship and cooperation in developing the field of education and training. During 2015-2019, Belgium government has financed the Facility of Capacity Building (FCB) project to strengthen professional and managerial skills for Vietnamese organizations and individuals through short & long term training courses in Belgium and short courses in Vietnam.

100 Vietnamese students receiving master scholarships in Belgium now have completed the study program. The minister asked the Belgium Government to extend the project because the period 2015 – 2019 is coming to an end.

Mr. Paul Jansen said that, Belgium Government is looking forward to the next steps of the European University of Management project in Vietnam, which builds educational programs in Vietnam, together with European Union.

This is a project highly promoted by EU and Kingdom of Belgium for the cooperation between EU and Belgium – Vietnam in the near future.

Meanwhile, the ambassador asked MoET to support the projects of French-speaking community and the Wallonie-Bruxell region. One of them is the preschool education development project in Quang Nam.

Minister Phung Xuan Nha highly appreciated the support to the education project in Quang Nam and MoET’s professional agencies will have the necessary supports, especially the regional workshop of the project.

For the project of building the European University of Management in Vietnam, the Minister said that MoET is very interested in promoting the project and has worked with Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to work on the project to accelerate the project progress. The Minister hoped that during his term, Mr. Paul Jansen would make efforts to promote the project, contributing to the establishment of the European Management University in Vietnam.
