Vietnam ESG Investor Conference 2023

During 31 May – 01 June, Vietnam ESG Investor Conference 2023 was successfully organized by the Vietcetera team in partnership with Raise Partners. This two-day event marked a significant milestone as the first of its kind in Vietnam.

🌍 Global Participation:
With great pride, they hosted over 350+ attendees, including esteemed ambassadors, distinguished overseas delegations, and passionate investors and SMEs from more than 20 countries. The event attracted participants from across Vietnam and around the world, making it a truly international gathering.

On the first day of the ESG conference (May 31) H.E. Karl Van den Bossche – Belgium’s Ambassador to Vietnam discussed “Securing development financing through an ESG lens” at the first panel discussion of the ESG conference. H.E. Karl Van den Bossche discussed the role of ESG in the EVFTA, the role of Belgian companies in Vietnam in ESG, the requirements that are being set, and BeLuxCham, who all contribute and put ESG as one of the priorities on their agenda to contribute together to reach the goals that Vietnam has set.

On the second day of the ESG conference, BeLuxCham’s member DEEP C Industrial Zones Vietnam, represented by Melissa Slabbaert, head of QHSE & Sustainability, participated in the panel discussion about “Case Studies in Responsible Manufacturing & Sourcing”. Melissa shared DEEP C Industrial Zones’ journey in sustainability, the growth it has established, its current drive, and goals in ESG, for both their industry park as its tenants.

Together with, Preben Elnef, Vice-President of Lego Manufacturing Vietnam, Giang Nguyễn, Sustainability & ESG Manager of BITI’s, Tran Phương Nga, CEO of Thien Long group, DEEP C Industrial Zones Vietnam showed the participants how to enable companies to apply ESG in all of their activities, how to ensure that ESG results are being analyzed and that companies can share their results to make ESG tangible and become the new normal in every company’s daily business.

Vietnam’s New Personal Data Protection Decree – Understand and Master the Compliance Requirements

Taking effect on July 1, 2023, Vietnam’s Personal Data Protection Decree (PDPD, Decree No. 13/2023/ND-CP is a significant step for the country and is expected to have a profound impact on both local and foreign-invested companies doing business in and with Vietnam. Thus, compliance to this new regulation is mandated to all entities in any kind onshore or offshore that proceed with Vietnamese individuals’ information.
To help companies better prepare, Toan Quoc Doan, Manager of IT & Technology Service and Patricia Aranguren Moliner, International Business Advisor Associate of Dezan Shira & Associates Vietnam, will introduce the PDPD and explains several key considerations to take to build a roadmap for compliance.
Detailed actions from both a technical and organizational perspective will be discussed as well from an IT professional’s perspective. Targeted to serve the needs and perspective of IT experts but with relevance also for other roles in a firm, the webinar will create awareness of the main keynotes about this decree for avoiding the violation on a daily basis.

Inter Asian BLCCs Webinar: Overseas Social Security, the Belgian social security abroad

On May 16, 2023, BeluxCham and 15 Belux Chambers in Asia co-organized a seminar about Overseas Social Security. The event aimed to information about the Overseas Social Security (OSS), which is part of the National Social Security Office (NSSO) and is designed to fulfill the international dreams of expats outside the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, and the UK. During the presentation, the Belgian government’s ex-pat insurance offer was elaborated upon, including a basic package that consists of pension insurance, incapacity for work and disability insurance (including pregnancy), and deferred healthcare insurance. Additionally, ex-pats or employers can also take additional insurance for medical care, workplace accidents, and accidents in private life. The webinar was interactive, allowing for audience questions and feedback to better serve the needs of Belgian expatriates. The speakers shared valuable insights about the offer of Overseas Social Security, making the event informative and engaging.

The Business Luncheon “Vietnam Retail Market & Consumer Trends”

We are thrilled to announce that the Business Luncheon “Vietnam Retail Market & Consumer Trends”, co-organized by BeLuxCham Vietnam and EuroCham, was a big success!

Held on Wednesday, 24 May 2023, at the prestigious Sofitel Saigon Plaza, the event attracted over 90 participants from various industries and backgrounds.

The highlight of the luncheon was the insightful and interactive presentations by our expert speakers: Peter Christou – General Manager Worldpanel Division of Kantar Vietnam, Jayant Shenoy – Commercial Director of NielsenIQ Vietnam, Olivier Langlet – Group CEO of Central Retail in Vietnam and Neil MacGregor – Managing Director of Savills Vietnam.

The speakers provided valuable insights into the current state of the Vietnam Retail Market. They discussed the latest trends and consumer behavior, as well as the challenges and opportunities the businesses are facing in this dynamic sector.

The speakers also shared their experiences and best practices in navigating the complex and rapidly evolving retail landscape in Vietnam. From e-commerce and omnichannel strategies to sustainability and innovation, the discussions were both insightful and practical, offering actionable advice for businesses of all sizes and sectors.

In addition to the informative presentations, the Business Luncheon also provided ample networking opportunities for participants to connect and exchange ideas.
