The Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam’s New Board of Management 2019

On the 28th of February, ICHAM Annual General Meeting was held in Hanoi and HCMC, in Casa Italia and Nikko Hotel respectively, via video conference.

During the assembly, towards the end, took place the election of the new councillor of the Board of Directors. The two candidates were Mr. Luca Puglielli, General Manager of TND Vietnam Trading Corporation, and Mr. Joseph Perucca, General Director of GIVI Vietnam. The assembly chose Mr. Perucca and BeluxCham would like to send a congratulation on ICHAM’s New board of Management 2019!

We hope that we will have many corporations with ICHAM in the future.

Vietnam – second biggest coffee supplier of Belgium in 2018

Vietnam was the second biggest supplier of coffee for Belgium after Brazil in 2018.

The Southeast Asian country exported 18,500 tonnes of coffee worth 36.07 million USD to Belgium in the year, year-on-year rises of 45 percent and 20.7 percent respectively, the highest growth level among the top 10 coffee supplier for the European country.

According to Vietnam Customs, Vietnam grossed 324.24 million USD from shipping 183,700 tonnes of coffee abroad in January 2019, up 19.4 percent in volume and 17.6 percent in value compared to December 2018.

In 2019, if the coffee sector maintains two-digit growth, Vietnam is likely to surpass Brazil to become the largest supplier of coffee for Belgium.

In 2018, Vietnam exported more than 1.8 million tonnes of coffee worth 3.54 billion USD, respective year-on-year rises of 20 percent and 1.2 percent.

Belgians developed bioconversion model in Vietnam

Entobel is founded by Alexandre de Caters and Gaetan Crielaard, who have raised 1 million euros to breed Black Soldier flies for Vietnamese shrimp farm. Entobel will feed fly larvae with organic waste and then harvest them to produce high grade aquacultural and agricultural products such as high-protein animal feed and fertilizers.

According to plan, the first larvae will be harvested in April. By mid-summer, Entobel factory will be processing 20,000 tons of waste and yielding 1,000 tons of larvae in powder form. Entobel’s products will be a great and sustainable alternative for Vietnamese aquaculture industry
