OMGEVING

WHO ARE WE?

In every urban or landscape project that it is a part of, OMGEVING not only seeks out the spatial but also the societal value it can add. OMGEVING lets this commitment filter through into its research, design, and its construction work. The design company sustains the human scale of its projects through the principle of cooperative collaboration. Collectivity – in both substantive and process-oriented terms – is a key concept for OMGEVING. Teams that have been carefully composed for each project create a network of strategic alliances, through which disciplines and areas of activity are drawn together according to requirements, both internally and from external parties.

This constant exchange of knowledge gives rise to comprehensive contextual analyses, critical questions, lively discussions, integrated approaches, surprisingly creative and innovative but still feasibly realistic and technically correct solutions, trains of thought based on alternative approaches, personal relationships, a receptive attitude, and  intensive dialogue with our public or private clients. Trust is an essential part of such cross-pollination – the ingenious final outcome is never due to a single brain, but to many individuals collaborating. This gives us the space to flexibly employ scenarios, visions, and interim situations, while it also allows us to disseminate the knowledge we have gained with a degree of wilfulness in public debates.

And so, since 1973 it is not only the projects but the horizontal structure of OMGEVING itself that has been based on dialogue, cooperation, and cross-pollination. Over eighty experienced and dedicated spatial planners, landscape architects, urban planners, geographers, engineers and just as many personalities make up our two fields of activity – Landscape architecture and Urbanism. The clear but dynamic structure provides an overview of the wide range of large and small-scale projects that this independent and multidisciplinary design company with offices in Antwerp and Ghent takes on. In the city, in the suburbs or far beyond, OMGEVING tackles complex spatial issues and challenges on a wide array of scales – from cross-border spatial visions for landscaping plans, parks, and public spaces through to buildings, complex planning processes, and street furniture. Our approach allows us to immediately assess design interventions at a larger scale in respect of their possible consequences at a lower level, and vice versa too. It’s not just about the scale, it’s about the typology, the social impact and the street-level experience too. Every decision is a part of a flexible and results-oriented vision.

GREEN ECONOMY FORUM & EXHIBITION (GEFE) 2022

The European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham Vietnam) will host the “Green Economy Forum & Exhibition (GEFE) 2022” from November 28 to 30 at Sala’s THISO SkyHall in Ho Chi Minh City. The event’s primary objective is to support Vietnam in achieving its COP26 commitments and the socio-economic development goals specified in its National Green Growth Strategy for 2021-2030.

GEFE 2022 will bring together experts across sustainable business and governance for three days of conferences, exhibitions, and high-level B2B and B2G dialogue sessions, along with EuroCham Vietnam’s Green Business Awards and annual Gala Dinner. The whole slate of events will act as a platform to enhance cooperation between European and Vietnamese business communities and to promote a sustainable green Vietnamese economy through expertise sharing and technology transfer initiatives.

The first day of GEFE 2022 will include a plenary conference, which will function as a forum for high-level dialogue between European and Vietnamese government representatives and business stakeholders to coordinate and hold discussions on green policy frameworks, national energy plans, and climate risks more generally.

Each of GEFE 2022’s three days will entail panel discussions and seminars on a broad theme, including energy and green financing on day one, waste and sustainability on day two, followed by innovation and entrepreneurship on the third and final day. Each day will be further divided into subtopics, covering more than 20 green sector subjects in total.
