BeluxCham Mission to visit Haiphong & DeepC Industrial Zone

Introduction

On the occasion of the 50 years diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and Belgium, and the 20 years celebration of BeluxCham, the embassy, in collaboration with DEEP C Industrial Zones and BeLuxCham, is hosting a mission to Hai Phong with a series of events in Haiphong on October 6th, 2023, including B.Festival, Opera concert and half-day EVFTA & ESG seminar.

Overview

Haiphong is a major port city located in northern Vietnam. It is the third-largest city in the country and serves as an important economic and industrial hub. Haiphong is known for its strategic location, being situated on the northeastern coast of Vietnam, near the Gulf of Tonkin. Covering an area of 1,527 square kilometers and boasting a population of 2.07 million people as of 2021, it ranks as the seventh most populous city in the country.

Strategically located on the fringes of the Red River Delta and in close proximity to the Chinese border, Hai Phong serves as a significant trading center. It stands out as the sole city in the northern region equipped with five modes of transportation, including railways, roadways, airways, inland waterways, and maritime routes. This unique advantage positions Hai Phong to emerge as a prominent hub for large-scale manufacturing, industrial parks, and economic zones throughout Southeast Asia.

DEEP C Industrial Zones, also known as DEEP C Hai Phong, offers a range of facilities and services to support businesses, including ready-built factories, warehouses, and office spaces. The industrial park focuses on attracting industries such as manufacturing, logistics, and renewable energy. It provides a favorable business environment with modern infrastructure, reliable utilities, and convenient transportation links.

Over 25 years, DEEP C has owned and managed five industrial zones in Việt Nam representing a land bank of nearly 3,400ha. In order to pursue sustainable development, DEEP C is implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting standards as fundamental criteria. Additionally, DEEP C has already integrated the UN Sustainable Development Goals into its day-to-day operations. Consequently, the company is dedicated to excluding investors who employ coal-based processes, ensuring that at least 50 percent of its energy demand will be met through renewable sources by 2030. Furthermore, DEEP C has been chosen by UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organisation) and MPI as a pioneer for its new EIP industrial zone standard (Eco-Industrial Park).
